IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE
We are pleased to advise that the 2020 Maryborough Open Gardens will still proceed. However, due to Queensland Health Directives, the gardens will be open under strict protocols which must be followed by garden owners, volunteers and visitors. We are limited to a maximum of 30 people in a garden at any one time. There is simply no negotiation with this, as there is the health and wellbeing of all to be considered, and compliance with legally enforceable directions by the Queensland Government is a must.
Due to the new COVID measures there may be additional wait times to enter the gardens, and there could be limits on the time that visitors are able to spend in each garden. Specific measures will be in place for each garden and these will be advised to visitors upon entry.
We ask visitors to be patient and respectful and honour the efforts of all involved, especially the garden owners, to ensure that we are able to still deliver this event, albeit with the COVID protocols that we have had to put in place.
Due to the additional measures in place for the weekend, two of our gardens at 70 Fibrosa Court, Dunmora and Rocky Hill Therapy Farm, Tinana have had to withrdraw and will not be open on Sunday 30 August.
There will be additional information available at the gardens including things to see and do during the Open Gardens weekend. You can also use the open gardens web site to find out more information about our region.
We sincerely thank visitors for their understanding, garden owners for their commitment and hard work to deliver the 2020 Maryborough Open Gardens, and Fraser Coast Regional Council for their work behind the scenes to ensure that we are compliant with the new COVID framework.
We hope that you enjoy the 2020 Maryborough Open Gardens, take care and stay safe and well.
Maryborough Open Gardens is an annual event when private gardens in Maryborough (Queensland) and surrounds are opened to the public to enjoy, gain inspiration, learn about what grows in the region and simply share the love of gardening. Visitors are treated to a wide range of garden sizes and styles from the formal to quirky and artistic and small to large acreage. Entry to gardens is free with some gardens having fund raising events including plant sales and refreshments.
This is the first time that the Open Gardens are being held over two days with the Town Gardens open on Saturday 29 August and Country Gardens open on Sunday 30 August. There will be something to please seasoned and aspiring gardeners and those that simply appreciate gardens. You don’t need a green thumb to visit and enjoy the Maryborough Open Gardens!
Subject to government directives regarding COVID-19, the 2020 Maryborough Open Gardens will be held on the weekend of 29 and 30 August. As we are wanting to ensure that the safety and wellbeing of visitors, volunteers and garden owners is paramount, the 2020 Maryborough Open Gardens will be a COVID-Safe event held in accordance with the applicable Queensland Health guidelines. This may mean additional wait times when entering gardens, providing your details on our event registers and following any requests from volunteers or garden owners. We sincerely appreciate all visitors respecting and acknowledging our need to instigate protocols in response to COVID-19 as we want all visitors to be safe whilst enjoying visiting our beautiful gardens, and we thank you in advance.
