Open Saturday 29 August 2020
To compliment the 130 year old federation style home, originally built for the Miss Harts (who were part of the Hart sawmilling family of Maryborough); a formal garden has been developed over the past 36 years by the current owners.
To keep pests and disease management to a minimum, hardy plants that are suitable for the sub-tropical climate of Maryborough have been selected. Colour has been achieved by selecting plants with bright foliage rather than relying heavily on flowers.
Approximately 100 orchids are randomly placed in the garden with many attached to the various species of palm trees. The garden has extensive hedging and garden rooms leading to the terraced riverbank.
The Lioness Club of Maryborough will be serving light refreshments from 10.00 am to 4.00pm during the 2020 Open Garden Day (29 August) and an orchid-grower and an artisan potter will also be on site with bespoke, hand-made products for sale.
Garden entry will be subject to Queensland Government COVID-19 Directives and we ask all visitors to be respectful of any additional requirements that we need to put in place to ensure that visitors and owners are kept safe.
We look forward to seeing you.
