Fay Smith Wetlands, Maryborough


Fay Smith Wetlands is approximately 10 hectares and comprises of a remnant wetland, woodland of red bloodwood, swamp mahogany, acacias and forest red gum. The park was dedicated to Fay Smith, a local birdwatcher and conservationist. The Fay Smith Bushcare Group has been operating since 2006 and consists of members from the Wildlife Preservation Society and Lower Mary Catchment Group. The group focuses on removing and controlling weeds that pose the biggest threat to the diversity of the park. The group has also developed a flora and fauna species list.
